Frank McKinney III, CFS
Frank McKinney, Ill is a dedicated financial advisor and a founding partner of McKinney Capital Management (MCM) a thriving firm based in Houston, Texas. Growing up in a household with modest means, Frank the youngest of two children was inspired by his loving parents both of whom devoted their careers to nonprofit organizations and as such, he spent much of his time helping and volunteering in many different capacities. Their unwavering commitment to doing the right thing and helping others shaped his values.
As a youth and continuing through college, Frank believed that his career path might lead him to the field of medicine. What better way to serve others than to help them stay healthy or care for them when they are sick. However, after a short stint in medical school, Frank came to the realization that the field of medicine was not for him. He knew that he wanted to work with people but was not sure how to transition that into a career … Along the way, one of Frank’s satisfied customers was talking about his investments and bragging about his significant gains. Financial investments was an area that Frank was not well versed in but was certainly interested in more about and giving his own money an opportunity to grow.
In the late 1990s, Frank came across a listing for a position as a financial advisor. Not knowing exactly what that would entail but understanding that it dealt with investing he decided to apply for the position. While he quickly realized that being comfortable with numbers and understanding the principles of investing were integral aspects of this career avenue, guiding and serving clients was of utmost importance. Through hard work, lots of study and work experience Frank developed a deep understanding about investments, the economy and financial markets.
Frank is passionate about using his extensive knowledge understanding in the field of finance to help others. Making complex topics easy to understand for his clients and helping them reach their goals. It is a priority for him to translate financial concepts into plain English, so that his clients may have a better understanding of complex topics while helping them reach their investment goals. Not just talking at them but more importantly communicating with them. The most rewarding part of Frank’s career is having clients coming to the office, often anxious and unsure about their ability to retire comfortably and then seeing them leave the office relaxed and confident with a better understanding of where they stand financially.
A devoted husband and father of four children, Frank balances his professional achievements with a commitment to family life. He believes in instilling the same values of integrity and service in his children fostering a legacy of compassion and responsibility. While two of the four children have “left the nest” the two that remain keep Frank and his wife Jacqueline very busy with school activities and sports. Through it all he still makes time for a few hobbies, hunting, fishing and golf. But his all-time favorite hobby is barbecuing with his smoked ribs and ribeye steaks being second to none.
